Comment:
I moved to Chicago in 1998 at the end of the new wave of the Swing craze and set out to make a Swing Tape. In mix making, however, the closest distance between two points is a crazy zig-zagged dotted line, and pretty soon I was genre-bending and making exceptions to "rules". Hmmm. There seems to be a lot of Harry Connick, Jr. in evidence here. The Tommy Chase track is from the great Stiff Records box set. The Louis Prima original "Jump, Jive an' Wail" was used in that infamous Matrix-like Gap Khakis ad. "Zooma Zooma" is the song sung by the Wedding Party at the beginning of The Godfather (though not this version). While I'm not so much swing crazy these days, I still like this mix. You can cha-cha to Cake's version of "Perhaps ,Perhaps ,Perhaps" --And yes--You really CAN swing dance (fast!) to Adam Ant's "Place in the Country".Feedback:
Cool mix. And, beleive it or not, I have swung-dance (?) to Adam Ant before!
