Comment:
About half of these songs have relevant titles, but speak little to the theme. Others have very much to do with Vancity. And of course, I had to throw in a couple of songs about rain. ;-) I'm particularly keen on the Young and Sexy song, with its Skytrain intro/extro and reference to a famous eyesore on Broadway. I know there's a few more Vancouver related songs out there, but I thought I'd stick to bands I sorta like. :-p Anyway, I think this would appeal to both Vancouver natives and non-natives alike. If you have a favourite Vancouver song, I'd love to hear what it is.
Feedback:
i saw the smugglers, in vancouver, on new year's eve.
what about hot hot heat's "get in or get out" ? not in the title?
I like it. Don't have any suggestions but love it. Especially the Skytrain reference.
yay for Vancouver!
Thanks for the comments, everybody. :-) "Get In or Get Out" didn't make it because it could be about any city. Although it's not Vancouver-specific enough, it would be perfect for a "Get Out Of Dodge" comp I may submit one day....
Dumptruck by Blind Melon has a couple of Vancouver ref. in it.
Jeff Buckley, "Vancouver."
Diana Krall, Departure Bay
Flying Burrito Bros. "My Uncle"
Stompin Tom Conners - Ironworkers(The Bridge Came Tumblin' Down)
