Comment:
Usually when I make mixes for myself, I make them exclusively for my car (at home I just listen to albums). This means the songs have to be singable, croonable or rantable in order to keep me awake during long commutes at 1:30 a.m. Back in my cassette days, I put a lot of effort into my mixes, but with the herald of digital files, I've just been closing my eyes, highlighting files and throwing them on to a CD. (It's experimentation. Not laziness, experimentation.) This is the first mix for myself I've put a bit of effort into, mostly because I've been waylaid for the past three days with a terrible cold. These are mostly songs off albums I've bought in the last couple of months. I threw in a Super Friendz song to celebrate their reunion and there are two Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks songs because I'm going to see them tonight, despite my less than stellar health.
