Okay, so the guy loses the Oscar for best director...again!! Will this genius ever finally be rewarded?? Oh well, what can you do. The guy has used some of the best music in history in his films so I just HAD to make a mix of 'em. Marty, here's to you...I hope someday Oscar finally finds his way to ya. Can't wait for DINO!
Cheers.

Yeah, he's a great director but.... GONY is clearly NOT his best work. I think Polanski was the best choice. OK, that said... you're totally right about him choosing great songs for great scenes. I don't really like that U2 snog, but the others are great choices. Nice idea, and cool selections.

Kickass mix. Great idea. He's probably the greatest living director musically, and in the top five for best director, period. He always loses for some cheesey reason, too. Goodfellas lost to Dances with Costner. GONY lost so Hollywood can "forgive" a guy who drugs and humps 13 year olds. /rant off... great choices here. :)

yeah, yeah, our greatest living musical director. you can't beat 'the last waltz,' and the 'rubber biscuit' sequence (strangely absent here) absolutely defines 'mean streets' for me. but isn't his 60s/70s obsession getting a bit tired? layla? house of the rising sun? like a rolling stone? great songs, but it's like a really boring classic rock station. if anything, he overdoes it. and tho this is a music site, i must say that as much as he deserved the oscar for 'raging bull' and 'goodfellas', let's face it, 'gangs of new york' was a total mess and artistic failure. whereas polanski's achievement was measured, composed, rigorous, in complete control of his medium, scorcese (who has been known to drug and screw around a bit himself) was struggling to get his epic onscreen and the sweat shows. marty deserves an oscar but not for this. nice mix, though. me, i'm a 'king of comedy' man. what, no 'kundun' trax?

The greatest living director musically is Cameron Crowe. Scorcese is great, however. The Oscars are a bit of a sham, which I thought would've HELPED Marty get his statue this year (what with directing his magnum opus + all.) The world is so unfair sometimes. Ah well... Out.
