Comment:
Ok...Black Sabbath's absence is a total f-ing mystery...How can Talking Heads be in and Velvet Underground out?...The Ramones' 3-chord rock is credible but Kiss is not?...Hall & Oates are the biggest selling duo in music history...The Jam just plain kick ass...Blondie's influence is enormous... Hanoi Rocks were GNR before GNR were GNR...The Cars ruled the charts...Pat Benetar and Joan Jett are the queens of rock...Duran Duran were the biggest band on the planet for a pretty good stretch...The Replacements might actually get in but, if they don't, it's a crime...If you're going to put Nirvana in (and you know they will) then you better put in Sonic Youth and the Pixies...If Metallica goes in then Megadeth should too; they were just as important in creating speed/thrash metal... If you're going to put GNR and/or Def Leppard in (and I suspect they will) then it's only fair to induct other key players in that genre...John Mellencamp's body of work is greater then most people think. Also neglected but not in this mix: Mott The Hoople, T. Rex, The New York Dolls, Iron Maiden, Peter Frampton, Judas Priest, and Depeche Mode.Feedback:
I like John Mellencamp too (how un-hip of me!)
I believe it takes 25 years after your first charted release to be included on the nominations. It took Queen almost 30 years (they inducted them on the anniversery of Freddie Mercury's death) many of the bands that you listed are in exhibits in the R&R Hall of fame but they are awaiting the time line. Oh and P.S. (They added last year an original analoge synth from Martin Gore of Depeche Mode and if you stand on the bar to look at it closely, many of the buttons and flips are labeled for specific songs) VERY Cool!
Velvet Underground is in the hall of fame. Also would be a shame not to have Prince in there his influence was huge. I don't believe peter frampton deserves to be in. I find your choices interesting tho good mix
Hanoi Rocks! YAY! You also picked my favourite Motley Crue song and a great VH one- very nice...
VU were inducted in 1996.
Mellencamp deserves to be there and probably will be someday.
Most of the others you list are highly doubtful to ever get in...unless they open a metal hall of fame or something.
