Comment:

I made this for my friend Kristin because I miss her, and I don't have a job yet. Without sounding too sappy, I am delighted that she has become one of my best friends over the past few months. Many of these songs contain insight into how I have felt. I almost made a narrative tape. In many ways, most of the first side and much of the second side until the pop songs hit form a loose narration of my moods. Despite the dimness of the majority of the songs, I hope she finds some humor and irony in quite a few of the songs and their tones, specifically "Prom Theme," "Super Nice Guys," and "Still in Love." The title comes from the Sleater-Kinney song. Kristin, in my mind, "works just like a child" in the best ways. With this tape I mean to adopt Michael Stipe's anti-poetic words and say, "Thank you for being there for me. Thank you for listening."

This is my favorite of all the mixes you've given me. And eight years later, we're MARRIED.
