Comment:

80 minutes from one of my favorite 90's bands--lo-fi seaminess at its most deconstructively beautiful best. I guess it's pretty obvious which Royal Trux album is my favorite, as six songs wound up making the cut here. I'm sad, really, that more stuff from the depraved masterpiece that is Twin Infinitives didn't show up here, and a bit bummed that none of the songs on their final record, Pound for Pound, have ever stood out enough to bump one of these songs off. It really, really hurt to cut the following tunes (enough so that I considered the idea of making this a 100-minute cassette): "Back to School", "Chances are the Comets in Our Future", "Waterpark", "Second Skin", "Blood Flowers", "Run, Shaker Life", "Gold Dust", "Steal Your Face", "Law Man", "Juicy Juicy Juice" and "Stevie".

Very nice. Cats and Dogs is a great, great album, though I haven't had the chance to get in to much of their other stuff. Yet.

Yeah, that's my favorite (obviously, based upon the track listing above). You should definitely get the following records, too: Veterans of Disorder, Untitled (3rd album), Thank You, Accelerator and Twin Infinitives.

Oh, I agree with you fellas... when these guys *aren't* great, they flirt with sucking. "Stevie" *is* a great song, Peter.

Hi Rob - you mentioned once that Zombies or Galaxie 500 vie for your 20th favorite band. I'd be interested to see a complete listing, say through 50. As for the additional material, why not a volume 2?

I might do a volume II, Steve. As far as that list goes, that will take more time than I have right now, but I can get you one eventually.

Shit yeah, Rob Conroy!!! I knew you had to have a Royal Trux mix on here somewhere. I'm in the midst of a full-on Royal Trux obsession over the last couple of weeks, not to mention that Emusic just put pretty much their whole catalog up (along with a TON of Drag City shit) today. I'm with you on Cats and Dogs, but, damn, I've been digging ALL of it lately. Very cool.
