Comment:

Dan Hicks & His Hot Licks put out some great music in the early 70's, an integral part of the SF Bay area sound back then. These songs are from 4 of his early 70's albums. A year or two ago he came out with a new album with lots of well-known guest players on it. I heard it was a good one, but this is all old stuff. I've never heard anything that sounds quite like them. With the pretty female background singing, some of the songs have a WWII-era feel to them, like the Andrews Sisters on background (to me, anyway).I did this mix a while back just to get 80 minutes of him and the band on disc, and I decided to post it in case others were not familiar with the band.

Hey Steve -- You are doing a great job of popularizing an artist who is sadly unknown to many people. Keep up the good work!!!
And speaking of your good work -- the Camping on the Couch mix is awesome.
