Comment:
2/03 - 4/03 this mix stemmed from a conversation a friend and i had re: the 'Teenage Shutdown' series of 60s garage rock comps. he hadnt heard much of the garagey noise coming out of detroit these days (which is mostly just an updated version of what those original acts were doing), other than the stripes and a von bondies track or two i'd played him. so... i put together some of my favorite stuff from a-half-dozen-or-so SFTRI type artists, as well as a few key older tracks that fit in well. the caveat to the title is that one could not compile the 'best of detroit rock' into just 1 mix, and if they could, it would damn sure not include The Come Ons.Feedback:
Where's the Sights...?
Testify my brother!
The mid 80's were a good time for clubs and local bands there. Black Market, Toby Red, Tracy Lee and the Leonards, probably many other good bands that are long ago forgotten. I'll betcha many of the current crop pass thru the Blind Pig in Ann Arbor.
