Comment:

This mix started out as the sexy side of an early-in-the-relationship mix tape. Once the relationship bloomed into domesticity, a more permanent format was required (the Babyface, Mayfield, and DeBarge cuts were the "CD bonus tracks"). The rules were simple: all male singers, slow and soulful but with a pulse (I can't stand quiet storm's more syrupy showers), and no Prince. Yes, he's a genius, but that's the point -- if you're starting a relationship in your early 30s and have any taste at all, then Prince carries indelible past associations best set aside by mutual compact.
I've made a lot of romantic mix tapes, but just as the present relationship is the best I've ever had, this mix is the best, um, background music I've ever put together. I wish I could say it absolutely needed to be this long, but . . . well, let's just say we do hear the last songs on occasion.

Greg,
Noticed in your comment on my mix "Evil Troublemaker" that you are interested in the song Stagger Lee. If you haven't seen it yet, look at the discussion item and link about that: http://artofthemix.com/AOTMCommunity/aspforum2.1/showmessage.asp?messageID=4792
