Comment:

This is another companion to the upcoming film A Mighty Wind. These are some of the slick commercial folk groups of the 1950's & 60's, with an emphasis on cheezy cluelessness. This mix is obviously leaning heavily on Ian & Sylvia, a duo I have just re-discovered. At their best, they were the first wave of the Canadian invasion that gave us Gordon Lightfoot, Joni Mitchell, and Neil Young, but I & S make strange hash out of Bob Dylan songs.
I threw in some live Weavers cuts from their 1963
reunion, for a touch of integrity.

And that brings us up at the end to lonesome Bob Dylan, singing a sincere Blowin' in the Wind and playing the electric chords of betrayal in Subterranean Homesick Blues.

Thanks for reading.

Cool! I just saw the movie last night. I heard that Ian & Sylvia were the inspiration for Mickie & Marty (I think that was the name of the duo)
