Comment:
The Stranglers are far from being my favorite '77 punk act, though they are arguably the best of the bandwagon jumping geezers, nonetheless I own most of their catalog & consider myself fortunate to have caught them live near their prime. Compilations abound, but none of the ones I've found focused primarily on their first four years, easily their greatest period. Couldn't find my 7" of Walk On By, but once located it will be added along with the flipside. The title's a bit of a gag, as I've always felt somewhat alone in my love for these blokes. Seems like it's a different story overseas where they're still carrying on, though the thought of seeing them without Hugh Cornwall is about as appealing as Thin Lizzy without Phil Lynott or the Fogerty-free CCR. While googling for the cover image I found sites for three different tribute bands. Listening to this while driving around today nearly made me want to start my own.
Feedback:
great picks, if I made a mix of these bastards it would look like this, you know they did that sweden song alson in swedish? Hugh lived here 73-74 I if I don't remember wrong
Great band for a single-artist comp. I'm a fair-weather fan, so to speak. I like some of their stuff, but not enough to buy the catalog. Perhaps add this to the pile, eh?
There's a pile? What pile?
You got me in a Stanglers-hold baby! I've only had a passing interest in these cats as well, but most of what I've heard is pretty good. Is the title meant to be ironic?
Lurve the Stranglers! Great mix!
Great band, great picks.
OOOF! I almost missed this one....very nice
Yeah, I definitely want a copy of this sometime. All I've ever owned is Rattus Norvegicus.
