Comment:

A cross between romantic and break up. A lot of love and sadness. Jeff Tweedy doing the Blondie cover on track two came from a bootleg of a solo acoustic show at the Lounge Axe. I never really cared for Peter Gabriel's In Your Eyes, but Gaines' live solo acoustic version shined a new light on it for me. After bartending St. Paddy's at an Irish pub Where Did You Sleep Last Night is the only song from that evening I ever care to hear again. Does anyone know the origin of this song? I know Leadbelly has a hand in it's story? Is it a US folk standard? Whatever, it's a great love/hate song. I put Look At Me on this mix 'cause it had been stuck in my head for awhile. Later I realised it was because it was on the Royal Tenenbaums and it had seeped into my brain. Little Sue is a singer-songwriter out of the Pacific Northwest with a voice that makes your heartache. The Townes song came off of Live at the Old Quarter which I think is his best album out right now. Swearing At Motorists weigh in with a beautiful version of Steve Earle's I'm Still In Love With You. Paul Westerberg's Things is a classic romantic/break up song. After Dreadful Selfish Crime I pulled about ten 4 second blank tracks from the end of Cracker's Kerosene Hat album and buried the Willie version of Paul Simon's Still Crazy After All These Years at the end. I don't know... I think the last line from Modest Mouse's Talking Shit About a Pretty Sunset sums up my feeling for this mix and the woman I made it for..................................I've changed my mind so much I cant even trust it
My mind changed me so much I cant even trust myself.
