Dear Gene,

Thank you for contacting me, and thank you also for the kind words about
"Anicca". I'm happy to know that you like it so much.

Wow! I'm glad that someone else out there agrees with me. I've always felt
that "ambient" music could naturally evolve into a new form of "classical".

> I make mixed mini discs for personal enjoyment and have
> used Anicca alongside
> compositions by John Cage, Toru Takemitsu, Jeff Pearce,
> Jan Garbarek & Michael Griffin.

I am honored to be in their company.

Thanks again for the nice e-mail. Take care,
Kevin

Thanks for the kind words about Bleed- I really appreciate you taking the time to write!

I'm glad that the tracks "mix" well with other tracks and other activities. This is something that, quite frankly, an artist has a hard time envisioning; I'm generally too "close" to my music to consider where it might exist in my listening life. Of course, I don't spin my own music around here once it's pressed to cd, so that's an easy out for me, I guess!

It is so nice to see the artists responding to your messages and really showing an appreciation for their fans. One of the nice things about listing to a "niche genre" like ambient is to be able to feel a real understanding and contact with the musician... something hard to do with a band that is selling millions of albums and filling stadiums. Keep up the nice work g.a.b.

Thanks for the note Gene! I understand about time demands, I never
have enough time to get to all the interests and (oh yeah) there's
that pesky job thing! Anyway, I appreciate your efforts and thoughts
on this topic (Definitely interested to see your playlist, so please
do post it!).

I spent a lot of time doing the mix thing too (ah, the
cassette days!), though in the years since I've gotten more consumed
with my own music I don't have much time for making mixes. I did a
kind of mix/remix/collage thing a few years ago for a DJ set that
incorporated pieces that I liked... it was a fun hybrid between
composing and mixing. Anyhoo...

BTW, I just noticed your mix that included the Seofon/Van Hoen
track and Beyond the Magellanic Clouds...cool!

All the best...

Michael

PS - I can't believe I hadn't put together that g.a.b. was Gene A.
