Comment:

ambient/classical...see notes, Disc 1.

The final corner of this quadrangle reflects my view of the ambient genera as today's new launching pad for
modern classical music; form & function blend well as there are several "crossover" pieces; part 4 of 4.

dedicated to Muzag * (back @'cha, Gary ! ).

Glad you're enjoying Imprint. I've been "planning" a 3rd Hypnos compilation
called NEVERTIME, for at least 3 years. I'm always busy with other
projects, and it's easier to push back compilations than single-artist
releases, so it has been delayed again and again.

I'd still like to do it some day, though I can't promise any specific time.

Thanks for your interest, I appreciate the feedback.

Mike

Interesting - I recently did a course on C20th classical music and it got me thinking (again) about genre distinctions.
A lot of academic 'classically trained' composers are encroaching on the territory occupied by electronica/IDM/ambient/thisism/thatism artists, often using the same tools (Max/Msp, ProTools, etc) and the same techniques (found sounds, granular synthesis, spectralism, etc). All we need is for the classically rooted composers to get away from their serialist-like, fibonacci-fixated obsessions and they'll start producing some human music :~) This is a great mix, as is this series with lots of favourite artists and (even better) some unknowns. Nice work, Gene.

Respect! I think it's fantastic that you've received comments from some of the artists you've used...I admire your dedication to AMBIENT, MOST OF WHICH I'm unfamiliar with...and not a genre I employ for my mixes very often..but a great set of looking mixes, w/outstanding notes and Art work that I'm ashamed to say I missed!
