Comment:
"LA Woman": the opening "credits" of the book, where Violet is describing her movie."Gloria": the appearance of Claire
"Another Girl's Paradise": the walk home, through the rich neighborhood, and Violet & Claire hanging out for the first time, at Violet's house.
"Ain't Nobody's Buisness": silent movie theatre scene. Appropriate for the basic feeling and also touches on the speaker's apathy towards peoples' feelings on her success in showbiz.
"Fairy King": when Claire describes the faeries to Violet
"How Soon is Now": For the description of Violet's goth phase as "Vile."
"A Place Called Home": Francesca specifically mentions PJ Harvey (though not a specific song) in a scene where they are driving to the Red Cherry, a transvestite bar.
"Love to Love You Baby": Francesca also specifically mentions Donna Summer, and this song just seems fitting for a night at the Red Cherry.
"Feticeria": I always thought this song sounded like the Spent Pleasure song "Girl Jesus" would. For the Raunch Room scene.
"Pretty Good Year": This song reminds me of Peter Brookman, and the poetry class that Violet & Claire take together.
"Dark Center of the Universe": the end of Violet's story... fade to black.
"Paranoid Android": Violet's transformation -- "ambition makes you look pretty ugly..."
"Desert Life": Violet & Claire's trip to the desert.
"Fuel My Fire": the first party that Claire attends, the crazed Hollywood atmosphere.
"Sparks": Brookman & Claire's picnic, the fountain scene.
"Dancing Barefoot" and "Bells for Her": Mentioned specifically as playing at the party where Violet & Claire talk about Violet going to a herbalist.
"Idioteque": The theme (seperation from love & people you care about) and tempo of the song applies to the party where Claire does coke for the first time, and decides to sever her ties to Violet.
"Orestes": Claire leaves the city.
"All I Want to Do": The end of Violet & Claire's twinship -- the seperation.
"Sleep Alone": "at least we were together/holding hands/flying through the sky..." A conclusion.
I'm sure this won't fit on one cd, so it will end up being a double cd set.
