Comment:

How to you introduce TMBG to someone who claims only to know "the song from Malcolm In The Middle"? Like this, hopefully. It's intended to be a collection of the band's best known and most accessible tracks, with a view to lulling the novice into a false sense of security before unleashing the likes of "Boat Of Car" or "Chess Piece Face" onto them on volume 2. Oh, and it doesn't include "Particle Man". :-)

Ah, I'd expect nothing less than excellence from the good doctor. Nice selection. I am a bit troubled by the absence of "Dead," though. And I'm not sure "I've Got A Fang" fits the "false sense of security" rubric you've given. LOL!

:-) You could be right about "Fang"... although I'm not sure "Dead" carries any sense of security at all! :-D

Doctor, which version of "Older" did you use?

The original "Long Tall Weekend" version. I thought long and hard about which version to use, in the end I decided this was a gentler introduction. :-)

Right... I've replaced "Fang" with the slightly friendlier "Ondine", and changed the title. Volume two will be entitled "Another First Kiss" and will include the track "First Kiss". You know it makes sense. :-D

"Dark and Metric" wouldn't be one of my first choices (very uncatchy), and I've never been very fond of "Your Racist Friend" (too straightforward lyrically, though the music is good), but the rest are all solid choices. I'd replace those other two with "Bed Bed Bed" and "Nightgown of the Sullen Moon", if it were me. (And I'd leave "I've Got a Fang" in -- sheer genius, that song.)
