Comment:

Crushes are painful, and yet I subject myself to them time and time again. This is a tape I've made for someone I met not so long ago. Unable to explain why I feel the way I do about this person, all I know is that although I'm sure I'll have moved on completely soon enough, at the present moment I have no control of my feelings. This is a tape that may never leave my hands, because I feel I don't know said person well enough to give them something as personal as a mix tape. It is a collection of songs that affect me in different ways, and a collection of songs that say a lot about the sort of person I am, a collection of songs that I'd like to think that if I were to hand the tape to him, he could listen to it while driving home in the rain, or lying awake in his room at four in the morning, and think about the crazy girl who gave it to him, not necessarily to make him fall in love with her, but just so he could get to know her a little better. This is a tape that could never fit all the songs I ever wanted it to. This is a tape that might end up in a complete stranger's letterbox, abandoned out of fear, and the stranger would never fully realise what the tape meant, though the first track on side 1 tells the whole story, and the intended recipient would never even know the tape existed, or that he meant this much to somebody. This is a tape that I'll never tell my friends about, because they would only sigh and say for the hundredth time, "Ari, you're a hopeless romantic". This is a tape for someone who I hope will listen to it.
