Is it necessary that EVERY "MOTW" be an indie rock/small town collabo? DO we really need to prove our musical superiority by showing how we are diehard fans of these artists that are SOOOOOO muh better than anything anyone else will ever know about?

The way I see it is that a lot (not all) of popular music is specifically taylored towards a certain interest group. It tends to be dumbed down with a catchy lyric or riff with little heart or thought put into it. Maybe that's not what you mean... Anyways, I think a lot of Indie stuff tends to be more honest. Maybe it's more from the heart- most indie bands have no shot at being accepted by the masses so they do what they REALLY want to do rather than trying to please anyone. Just a thought...

I just think that the main point of music and mixes is what you get you of them, and i think the mix of the week should be a slightly more broad scale.

a mix tape that includes minus the bear is a good mix tape indeed!

I agree, Pat. I'm sick of clicking on the mix of week and not really recognizing any of the songs. And I consider myself a music fan with broad taste. And this assumption that indie bands make more intimate music - as posted here by Mr. Mattran - is just bullocks. It's one of several tried and true rationales that indie fans throw in our faces all the time. But you know what, even Nirvana was once an "indie band." That most indie fans abandon a band once they "make it" because too many people are listening to it is what I take issue with...

once again i will state that THIS IS NOT MY PROBLEM. take it up with the person who chooses the mixes and leave me out of it.

I get so tired of seeing people moan about the MOTW picks. If you can do so much better, sign up for the jib but as it stands, you are not the guest editor so deal with it. Evry week, someone gets harassed and I have tired of coming on this site just to see people berated for their personal work!

Am loving the Jebediah song. It's about time someone called them an indie band..heh heh.

Meanwhile Music is subjective and I don't think anyone is in the position to damn anyone elses tastes.

Wow! Such hostility from Natalye and Shawn Frank. For Natalye, I'm sure it has something to do with the considerable e-mail notification everytime someone posts to this mix. What this site needs is a bulletin board, where users can discuss mixes, the MOTW, new music, etc... Natalye, I never said this was your problem. No one is damning anybody's taste here. My feedback was responding to Tim Mattran below. Oh, and Shawn, why don't you go get self-righteous somewhere else. We're all full up here.

here's an idea for you moses. if you don't like this, don't complain to me because i can't change anything. why don't you take this to the the guest editor or someone else who can make a difference instead of brainstorming for your motw reform to me. and while you're at it you can own up to who you are instead of creating a bullshit identity with no email address. how about you post some of the mixes that YOU have made so we can see what kind of music you think should be winning motw?

Whatever happened to using mixes to introduce new great music to people? I know maybe two bands on this mix, but rather than knock it's obscurity I'm intrigued that someone likes the music enough to put it on a mix and now I want to hear it. (sorry to put in my two cents on your mix Nat, but I'm sick of all this whining.) Open your minds people, sheesh.

PS- Nat, If you see any of my mixes you like, how a bout a trade?
