Comment:
An obscure but simply lovely band, all of whose discs are long out of print. They evolved out of a Feelies spin-off called the Trypes, recording four albums in the early '90's with a revolving cast (including Feelies bassist Brenda Sauter and briefly Feelies drummer Stan Demeski, with some production work by Feelies guitarist Bill Million). Not surprisingly, they sound a lot like the Feelies -- specifically, the acoustic, folky, pastoral sound of The Good Earth, further mellowed by flute solos, a madrigal-type ambient feel, and charming but twee female vocals. The albums weren't all that great -- too much emphasis on a drawn-out quiet vibe rather than the simple, direct hooks of the Feelies, and the male vocals (mostly omitted from this mix) were pretty bland. Still, the highlights (including a few from Sauter's later spin-off band Wild Carnation) make for a delightful mix perfect for falling asleep in meadows. Not that I get to do much of that.
Feedback:
i know you are not into trades, but if you decide differently, i'd love a copy of this one
