Comment:

Another mix tape from my years in Italy (compiled 2-21-97). I did a lot of driving back then, mostly due to a lengthy work/home commute and the fact that my then-girlfriend lived about 15 miles away, so mix tapes were a lifesaver (in addition to audio books). Listening to this tape still reminds me of sitting in my crappy little 1982 Alfa Romeo, cursing the Italian traffic. The title refers to something I had to say a lot at my job. I was the editor of an English language newspaper, and the layout artists I worked with were Italian and spoke little to no English. I used to give this guy named Bernardo a disc with a bunch of articles on it, so he could plug them into the pages using Quark Express, and I would just say, "open this, Bernardo." Eventually I learned more Italian, thanks in large part to Bernardo. He also was kind enough to teach me Italian swear words. God bless him.
