Comment:
I can't come up with a more appropriate title for a music geek compiled CD series created for an exceedingly tolerant wife than this. Like my annual birthday mixes, I've been making these for Michelle for more years than I can recall. The volume number represents our upcoming anniversary. Upon post-burn reflection, the sentiment conveyed by some of these songs is more sticky sweet, insecure & clingy than I'd normally express. I'm not certain what's going on in the White Stripes song & still can't figure out what was being dropped off the Tallahatchie bridge. My own feelings probably run closer to the Nick Cave song here & like he says on it "there's nothing I would ever alter".Feedback:
Some fantastic stuff here lo-fi. I have read a very grisly and very plausible theory on what Bobbie and Billy Joe were throwing off the Tallahatchie bridge.
Looks excellent lo-fi. Luck 13 indeed. She's lucky to have you my friend. I'd like to have access to your record collection too! ;) So don't keep us in suspense bear -- what were those kids throwing off the Tallahatchie bridge?
I'm behind the sentiment that produces these mixes 100%, and hope it runs a LONG time! Loads of great trax here, too numerous to mention singly.
Lots of good stuff here! I've heard some theories, but what went off the bridge is one of those great mysteries. Like who shot JFK, and just where the hell are those WMDs.
Good mixage ofsome valid, if indeed sticky sweet, memories. By the way, it's "Bobbie" Gentry singing about "Billie" Jo... "ie" being so much more feminine than a "y" for whatever reason.
Excellent picks, from top to bottom. I'm especially fond of the Lou Reed, Ryan Adams, and Lucinda Williams ones.
Bounty hunters, dredging the river banks have determined 'twas a ring that was lofted off said bridge in an attempt to "break off" a marital engagement. Billy Jo was so distraught over this that he, shortly thereafter, flung himself off the very same bridge. The Chocteau Ridge community was never quite the same
I am surprised that Jim Carroll didn't reference this in "People Who Died."

Lovely. Happy anniversary.
sad to say i've never heard that song, but i love the Nilsson, SFA, bonnie billy tracks and obviously the built to spill. nice one, happy anniversary
Well I have read that it's the remains of an abortion. Hence the flowers.

great one. love the captain Beefheart song especially, but the whole mix is impressive as ever.
ooops I missed this one, looks great and probarbly sounds great too
the white stripes song is an hommage to one of jack white's very favorite pursuits - breakdancing!
Whoa. I don't know where I was when you posted this, but this is really, really beautiful. That White Stripes tune is indeed kind of creepy lyrically, but it's pretty enough that it fits here. I especially love your transition from Bill Fay to Nick Cave--that works wonderfully. And I can't help but think that (*clears throat*) I supplied you with some of these songs. ;-) (Not a problem, in fact, I'm happy to do so.) This is one of my favorite mixes of yours.
