Comment:
*** Not Intended for Children or the Unduly Sentimental ***The original idea was to examine the genre of the Disturbing Lullaby.
Well, our research indicates that they're all pretty disturbing in one way or another. Either they're mawkishly sweet and disturbing or they're starkly realistic in a Grimm's Fairytales/Mother Goose sort of way and disturbing.
And why? A night spent with a colicky baby is not something for artists, agnostics or other triflers to be playing at. By morning, you will be seeing the world for what it truly is and will be singing that truth in strange, strange tongues.
Which doesn't mean it won't make for good listening, afterwards. But it won't be child's play by a long chalk.
Let those colicky babies grow up with hope and ideals -- play them some Springsteen or like that.
