well, as every breakup mix goes, this mix has its emotional peaks and valleys. when making mixes, i really rely on the first and last thirty seconds of each song; what lies in between is merely incidental. the fact that this mix continually throws the listener for a loop; starting with the strangely stoic "why does it always rain on me", to be followed immediately afterward by the longing "homeward", perfectly captures the confusion and lack of direction or hope which i was feeling while making the mix. as a final note, this tape contains some of the melancholiest mainstream alternative songs around (mr. harris, holidays, missing the war, no surprises.)
