Comment:
In this imaginary soundtrack to the imaginary film,ULTRAMAN IN LOVE, our hero meets Twiggy at a go-go. He fights some aliens and falls in love to some mod rockers and bachelor pad lounge stylings. Near the end of side one, he is fully invested in his love affair, and Ultraman and Twiggy parade around much like Lee Hazelwood and Nancy Sinatra did in MOVIN' ON. A lazy Sunday is rudely interrupted by a call to adventure and Ultraman spins into an existential tumult over duty to country vs. duty to the loving arms of a supermodel, or something like that. On a reckless path, he spends a libidinous night at the Playboy mansion during the dmitri in paris track. He's at the nadir of his existense by the time the Tom Waits' song begins, but he reaches his zenith when at the bottom of a lonely vodka and tonic, he realizes, "Hey, it'll all work out." (It's much more poetic in Japanese, actually.) At any rate, he spends the duration of the film kicking the tails of octupus-wolfman hybrids from Mars to the strains of synthy new wave ditties. ...or something like that.
