Comment:

Clear Channel killed radio; rotund little Powell Jr. drove the final nail in the coffin. Here's a little ode to the radio, not a terribly original idea (spotted several others here on AOTM), but I felt the need for another. Haven't yet made the final artwork for this one, so if you've got any suggestions there's still time. Thanks.

No Clear Channel stations in our town yet but the effects are still numbing. Commercial radio sucks. This mix is cool. Some other good radio songs of the top of my head... On My Radio - The Selector, Border Radio - The Blasters, DJ - Bowie, Radioactivity - Kraftwerk, Radio Days - World Party.
I can think of lots of ways to kill the radio.

Yeah, due to my cd player not working I had to listen to the radio on the way into work today. Jesus. I just turned it off after a few songs, and sang to myself. It sucked. The mix is great though, quite a few nice odes to the radio. The only favorite of mine that's missing is Hackamore Brick's "Radio", in which the singer goes on about how great the radio is, then tells a story about how he was racing another car and his girlfriend hangs out the car window to give their opponent the finger as they fly by, but then she falls out and dies. Then he goes back to singing about the radio. I guess it's kind of an unusual song, but it's got a good beat and you can dance to it. Sort of. Anyhow, nice mix.

Fantastic! Plenty of great songs about something that once meant so much to me. Can't honestly remember the last time I listened to music on the radio. You might as well break off the dial on my receiver. I hate to be one of those guys who suggests songs you didn't include, but here goes ;)---"Who Listens to the Radio" by the Sports, "Transmission" by Joy Division, "Umiversal Radio" by Nina Hagen and that "Life is a Rock, but the Radio Rolled Me" song. Okay, maybe not that last one...

Great picks.all around (the dial)!

I only ever listen to College Radio anymore.& don't think I'll ever buy into XM (choose your format from these great hits-HA).
College Radio plays edgy stuff, takes requests, has ticket giveaways, and usually has a very diverse program format (Classical->Jazz->Indie->Ambient/Techno).

I think a fitting song for the events of this week is "Nothing Good on the Radio" by Down by Law, although it might not flow with most of the stuff on here.

one of my favourite smiths lyrics goes something like 'burn down the disco, and hang the blessed dj, cos the music he constantly plays says nothing to me about my life'. cos it's so true. it makes me glad to know that others hate the radio as much as i do. there's also an ataris song that goes 'sometimes i turn it on, just to prove to myself that the radio still sucks!' i'm done ramblin now. nice mix.

Don't have any suggestions, just wanted to say: This mix good. Clear Channel Bad. I don't listen to the radio on general principle, though I always make an exception for the CBC's Brave New Waves.

Cool mix! Down with radio! Support indie music! Without indie all we would have is American Idol and that's like McDonald's being the only place to eat!!! That is all.

Great mix! Great song to start it off... although, I don't know about "Radio Song". While it does fit the concept wonderfully, that song is just awful. STILL, great mix!
