Comment:

The challenge:
Create a single artist mix of one of my favorites in the hopes of convincing fellow AoTMer Steve Mossholder that the artist should be one of his favorites, too.
The solution:
A mix featuring DCFC frontman Ben Gibbard in his various guises. The title comes from the lyrics to "A Song for Kelly Huckaby."

Fantastic man! I haven't heard these guys (unless on one of your indie mixes), and I am looking forward to it. Where are they from? I didn't have ANY idea who it would be. Possibly Sinatra.

Well this is just great! I'm on my second time thru, and the gentle vocals, framed by acoustic guitar and very subdued synthesizer or organ, are quite charming. Occasionally reminds me of some of Brian Wilson's innocent charmers, like Busy Doin Nothing, or some by Jonathan Richman. I really like tracks 2, 8, 10, 14, 16, 18, and the great Madonna cover. My wife thought it a bit odd that I wandered around the house whistling this one after hearing it, but it stuck with me. Beautiful music! thanks again.

I don't suppose you'd be up for doing a trade for this, would you? I can't make any CD-R mixes until Thanksgiving, but I can make tapes at the moment...this or the Gram Parsons one would be lovely. :)

Very good, I made one of these types too, and it was really tough to choose which songs to put on. Almost all of the stuff Ben Gibbard does is worthy of some type of recognition. Definitely can't go wrong with any choice.
