Comment:

Compiled March 29-30, 1996, in a hotel room/suite outside of Naples, Italy. My (now ex-)wife and I had just arrived there and I hadn't yet started working - we were there because she was in the military and was stationed there. Before getting a job, I spent a good week or so bumming around the hotel (our car hadn't arrived yet) and fighting off jet lag. Fortunately, some of our stuff arrived from the States, including my boom box and a limited assortment of my CDs. Sounds like a good excuse for a mix tape! Since I didn't have too many of my CDs with me, I had to maximize what I had by making a "double shot" tape (two songs in a row by each artist). I distinctly remember downing several cups of espresso while making this tape, thinking that I could seriously get used to drinking that stuff on a regular basis. The tape also reminds me of learning to drive the Italian way and being pretty terrified of it (I soon adapted quite nicely and eventually became just as much of a maniac behind the wheel as the locals). The title refers to the town where the hotel was located (Pinetamare) and the town where the base was located (Pozzuoli, birthplace of Sofia Loren).
