Bluegrass music is a form of American roots music inspired by the music of Appalachia. It has mixed rots in Scottish, Irish, English and African-American traditional music. There are as many styles of Bluegrass as there are artists to play it including traditional, progressive, gospel, neo-traditional and "new" grass. Unlike mainstream country music, bluegrass with played with acoustic stringed instruments. The fiddle, banjo, guitar, mandolin and upright bass are often joined by the Dobro and occasional the harmonica.
