Comment:
The Hays Office not only trashed Movies but also Popular Music. After about 1933 there is a real lid on "suggestive" lyrics (If I Could Be With You), "assertive" females (Annette Hanshaw), interracial combos (Mills Brothers and Connie Boswell)and indeed most Black Performers who sought a mainstream audience (Fletcher Henderson - the godfather of Swing). Is this just a sad historic footnote or do the powers that be play a major role in manipulating music today?Feedback:
Wow! I didn't know that there were others out there who loved this era as much as me! You rule!
Really cool stuff!
This looks delightful!
Classic & great! If you'd be interested in trading, I'd like to hear this one.
