Comment:

This mix came about when LolaSD challenged me with the following:
"A couple of pals of mine and I are making a mix of "Songs I Cannot Live Without"....a comp of songs contained on ONE CD if you were only able to take one disc along with you to a desert island(or to the top of Everest-personal preference). You in? No rules, no boundaries."

.As you can see, I am very much IN, but I am not a big fan of the "Last Mix I'll Ever Listen To" idea, so I took her reference to the top o' Mt. Everest as a starting point, and ran with the "No rules, no boundaries" stip.

Anyway, the theme that I used to guide my selections for this mix was the idea of taking one CD with me to the top of Everest, then spending eighty minutes before coming back down. That way, I don't have to think of it in terms of "the last 20 songs I'll ever listen to".

.OK, so what the mix IS, is a collection of songs that I would sing and dance to completely uninhibited if I was able to do so without anyone mocking my white-boy shuffle, or the fact that I can't sing for shit.and there's also the fact that there'd be nobody around to tell me what a lame or predictable choice a song is. Finally, my wife and I collaborated on most of this mix, with the idea being that we'd be together singin' and dancin' on top o' the world, but we tried not to allow it to become a sappy love song mix, and I think we were successful.

Oh, and the photo.it was taken by me from the top o' Maine. Specifically, it is the peak of Mt. Katahdin, which is in fact the highest point in the state of Maine. The mountain is twelve feet shy of being one mile to the summit, so sometime back in the `40s or possibly even the `30s, a Boy Scout troop climbed to the top and stacked these rocks twelve feet in the air! I climbed this mountain the summer of '94, and to date it is the only mountain that I've ever climbed.

.So there you have it, and since AOTM is the antithesis to being completely alone, feel free to comment on how lame and predictable my selections are!! ;)

PEACE
