Comment:
Not much "mixing" going on, with just 3 albums and a few b-sides. But it needed to be done, now that they've gone and released the best pop album of the last two years. (If you haven't bought it, you need to... right away. The damn thing hasn't left my car stereo in a week.) I've got mostly the upbeat stuff here, being less a fan of their slower tunes (a few too many of which are on the new album), though ballads like "Sick Day" and "Valley Winter Place" show them to be melodic storytellers on par with Elliott Smith. But it's the fun rockers that make them so great. Are "Leave The Biker" and "Red Dragon Tattoo" the best angry nerd songs ever? Is "Stacy's Mom" the best Cars-crossed-with-Rick-Springfield song ever? Yup.
Feedback:
At least the fourth Fountains of Wayne mix I've seen on AOTM in a month... and probably the only one without "Sink to the Bottom." A bold move!
And like all those other FoW mixes, I love this one too.
Yeah, I assumed that, with a new album out, there'd be a few other comps out there. "Sink To The Bottom" is by far my least-favorite song of theirs, sounding way too much like a pre-fabricated "alternative radio" single circa 1995.
this is the best of the fow mixes i've seen, though peace and love is shit. at least i think so.
wtf? i respect your' testes but this is for a mix tape do you know mix? have some psycho problems dude?

I think the last guy nailed it with his comment. I too have much respect for your "testes" Marc. But seriously, this looks excellent. Still haven't heard the latest release, but if it's half as good as the first two, I'll be in line at Sam Goody to buy it.
i'm glad "i want an alien for xmas" and a live track made it onto your mix, however much i may disagree with your exclusion of "sink to the bottom". it makes your mix different, but not necessarily better.
Ion: I, too, am proud of my testes. Thanks for sending me your reguards. Yes, by all means you should pick up the new album (on par with the first album, much better than the second, which I thought was a bit weak). But why the evil Sam Goody? I'm sure you can find it online for cheaper.
