Comment:

Okay everybody- ladies especially this time -take a moment and chime in on this one. This little ep of a mix was put together with my girlfriend in mind. We've been dating for nine months, with only one real bad incident in that stretch of time. Now, lately I've found that many of my friends have become non-existant for their own reasons. To counteract this, I've been trying to make new friends, and in the most recent two cases the friends have been female. My girlfriend has a MASSIVE problem with this.

I don't get it. No matter how much I tell my girlfriend how much I love her, and how these people are just friends and nothing more, she can't seem to get comfortable with the idea.

Is it just her, or does every woman out there believe that a guy and a girl, who are both in the same age bracket can never be "just friends". The tracks on here are symbolic of the situation itself (Trk 1-3), thoughts I'm thinking about my girlfriend in this situation (Trk 4-8), and things I believe about our relationship (Trk 9-12). Most importantly, the chorus from the final song...

"...I can't promise that I'll grow those wings, or keep this tarnished halo shined...but I'll never betray your trust angel mine..."

Cheers, and thanks for listening.
-AF.

suggestions: wilco's "we're just friends" and arethra franklin's "pullin'" both would work really well. otherwise, i like what you have here.

1st off, huge kudos for that Odds song. Personally, it was the song that got me hooked on them (after the tragic overplaying of "Eat my Brain" on the local radio station.) Also, great Oasis pick- another favourite, though 'Gas Panic' is still my numero 1. As for the whole issue behind this mix, I shall paraphrase from the Book of Chris Rock, comedian: "Women can have platonic male friends; buddies, pals, love-him-like-a-brother-type PLATONIC friends. Men don't have platonic friends... we just have 'women we haven't fucked yet.'" Oh yeah, + when the hell are we gonna trade dude? Out.

Oh yeah... Make sure the female friends in question are *not* interested in you, and then get them to know your girlfriend. It's a lot easier to be suspicious of strangers than of friends. No guarantees, of course - and if that's already the case and she's still uneasy, well, you may end up with an uncomfortable decision to make. I hope the mix does its trick.

It's clear that you put a lot of time and thought into this. Wow. It seems to me that you are particularly skilled at ending your mixes very well. Nicely done, as always.

I think I speak for a good chunk of people when I say that American Idol is a good idea, but poorly executed. The world doesn't need more flash-in-the-pan pop singers, + American Idol is looking to churn them out over + over again. Years from now, there will be an entire bargain bin at your local record store devoted to the hits (+ inevitable misses) of the American Idol folk. I'm not saying they can't sing- I'm saying that people will soon grow weary of listening. AF: cheers for the good vibes on my mix. Out.

Well, the cover certainly lends itself to the idea of platonic friendship. wink wink.
