Comment:
another mix put together for steve mossholder. per usual, not entirely sure why "superman" and "love" sort of rose to the surface for this one (but i did manage to resist using maureen mcgovern's "love theme from 'superman'," so it's not all bad).Feedback:
what about flaming lips' "waiting for a superman"? i love that one
Doh! Thanks for reminding me of one I forgot. Now... must slump in corner and cry for all that could have been.
This is a wonderful mix. But which one would you cut if you did include the Flaming Lips' song? I like the flow an awful lot, with great variation between old favorites and brand new ones (for me anyway).Tunes 5 thru 10 are an especially nice run, starting with a great Shelby Lynne I had not heard before. And then we proceed to Five for Fighting and one knockout change of genre after another. Bizarrely, the vocal quality of the Milla (new artist for me) is really making me think of the same vocal quality demonstrated by Ron Mael of Sparks!! Listened to Kimono My House lately? The Sparks tune from my Beach mix is from that album.Greatest hits on this: Killin' Kind and Love Keeps Draging Me Down. My very humble suggestion - cut the live U2 and replace with the Lips if that's all the room you have. Thanks amigo.
Actually, Steve, I like your suggestion. I like that live version of the U2 song, but I tend to over-use it on mixes. Would leave enough room for the Flaming Lips song. (I've really got to give some time to the Milla/Mael comparison, though. Whew!)
