Comment:

This mix is a story about a night and about you, and here is how it goes:

You don't want to go out tonight, but your friends convince you that it will be fun (track 1). As you prepare to go out, as you find the perfect clothes and make complicated transportation plans with your buddies, you muse dreamily on all the love you could find tonight, all the people who are also venturing out this evening, this whole world of youth and excitement which you're joining (tracks 2-4).

Finally, looking your best and feeling your coolest, you and your friends hit up the clubs and parties. You prowl around them, you advance upon them, you ARE the life of the party. "We're nightclubbing, we're what's happening" (tracks 5-10).

You meet someone, she seems pretty promising, she leaves to dance with someone else, but you make her promise to come back to you (track 11).

While you're left dancing alone and waiting, you drink more and more so as to forget that evenings out can be really so lonely and sad (tracks 12-13).

Drunk, you ask that promising girl to come home with you. You point out that you two had a lot of fun together and ask, "Couldn't you stay a little longer? It wouldn't be any wronger." But she can't, or she won't, and you're drunk, and it's too late (tracks 14-15). "The party's over," and she is gone, and you somehow drag yourself home (tracks 16-17).

You wake up the next morning hungover, lonely, and unfulfilled by your night on the town (track 18), but oh so quickly you turn the evening into this marvellous story of your wild exploits (track 19). And all too soon you are preparing once again for "all tomorrow's parties," forgetting or ignoring that going out, despite your grandest of intentions, is really just so deadening.

The End.
