Comment:

This is a mixtape in 4 parts or movements that I made this week for my 15 year old pop/punk loving cousin at his request. The overarching theme is, of course, punk rock and within each section there is also a theme: the first's theme is Television, the second's is Ian MacKaye. the third's is lying, and all the songs in the fourth "movement" begin with the word 'I.' Each movement in this punk symphony, if you will =), begins with a short piece produced by me in Cooledit that is designated by the __XXX__'s. Each is set to a piece of classical music (detailed above) and contains some content related to the theme of its movement. The first has some clips from a speech about television addiction. The second is actually a recording of myself on a local radio show on WXRT in Chicago requesting some Fugazi. The third has a variety of movie and tv clips related to lying that come from places like The Andy Griffith Show, Liar Liar with Jim Carrey, The Simpsons, etc. And the forth has bits and pieces from Presidential addresses that begin with I. ("I Am Not A Crook." "I did not have sexual relations with that woman..Ms. Lewinski." Etc.)All feedback welcome.

Oh, for cool. This rocks. They play Fugazi on WXRT? I'm gonna have to start listening to that more.

Naw, they never play Fugazi. I was calling into request that the Tuesday night show hosted by Greg Kot and Jim DeRo do a special show about them, intereview Ian and the whole bit. They say they'll do it next time they come through town.

does your cousin like it? do you? there's your feedback, slugger. i mean, so many punk/post punk/proto punk KOs. you had room for all of "Marquee Moon"? serendipitous. If I had more than Minor Threat and Fugazi albums, I'd create a MacKaye retrospecticus. Someone else with a better collection should.

This is great. I wish I has some older relative to steer me in the right musical direction when I was 15.... By the way, I had no idea that the "I Got Erection" song was originally by Turbonegro. I saw some hapless touring band play it at some bar in town here. They got a pretty unfavorable reaction from the local crowd, who all presumed they had written it themselves.

Yeah, most people arn't ready for the pure genius of that "Ass Cobra" material. "Midnight NAMBLA" has some of the most hilarious lyrics about child molestation ever written.
