Comment:

I wanted to create a mix that would celebrate the punk, post-punk and garage rock lineage which has never achieved the mainstream success it deserves. Accordingly, my stolen title, "Left of the Dial" (Replacements, Track 9 from "Tim," 1985), seemed to match perfectly. The double meaning here is less than subtle: These are the songs that would have played the radio over the years if three-chord, college garage-rockers had gotten respect from the very beginning.
