Comment:

Not terribly interesting, as I stuck to the first four classic albums. I suppose Siren was part of the band's original output, but I've never liked that as much (and didn't purchase the reissue). They had a few nice moments in their later, reconstituted years (i.e. "Over You," and much of the fine Avalon album, particularly the wonderful "More Than This"), but the sound and style was dramatically different, so I opted to keep this a more limited, less wide-ranging mix. As usual, I checked Rob Conroy's list after making this and discovered he had made a mix that matches this one almost song for song.

Nice mix. The first four albums are classic. Avalon is up there too.

excellent....I've seen Roxy and Ferry live over the years and their shows are equally tasty...Phil Manzarrera is a great guitar player, vastly overlooked...played with a band called area code 801 and covered Tomorrow Never Knows...also formed post

wonderful band - did you catch them on tour a couple of years ago? I've never been a big fan of Stranded, but I haven't played it that much either. Wouldn't you rather give Prarie Rose the boot, and substitute in Pyjamarama?

Steve -- in the spirit of Rob's "last song cut" commentaries, I'd have to say "Pyjamarama" was a near miss for the mix. Omitted largely because I only have it on an older compilation, and everything else came off the '99 reissues, so it just didn't sound as good.

Hi, Marc -- peeked at your profile, saw this mix and had to comment. While I adore the first four Roxy albums -- particularly Stranded and Country Life -- Siren is possibly my favorite of their catalog for a variety of reasons that I won't bore you with here. I do encourage you to purchase the re-issue; give it another chance? ;) Anyway, great mix. You've inspired me to perhaps make my own.
