Comment:

Definitely one of the best, most diverse bands ever... damn, this was difficult. Maybe we're just STP nuts. But hey. Anyway, yeah, there's no "Creep", "Big Bang Baby" or "Lady Picture Show", we know we're going to get a lot of crap for that. But it's all a matter of opinion, these we feel are their ABSOLUTE best, like if a person had never heard them before, what they're all about. None of these really get annoying. Wish there was room for Sour Girl. But oh well. Maybe another time.

I am a big fan of Big Bang Baby...the only thing I would have done differently is take out Interstate Love Song and put in Pretty Penny. Their second and third albums were great.

Heheh. Well yeah Big Bang woulda been on there, but room constraints.. 2nd and 3rd albums ARE really great... my personal favorite (and favorite album of ALL TIME) is Shangri-La though. I was never a big fan of Pretty Penny. Kinda cool, but there are so many better, in my book. Thanks for the feedback! Always appreciated.

As one of the biggest fans of this group that I know of, I approve of this mix, it's fantastic!! I make tons of STP single artist mixes for my own pleasure and I don't think I ever got 30 on a CD. BBB is usually always there, Interstate is my favorite song, it never leaves an STP mix. Tigers is one of those songs I wish STP would dust off and play occasionally. Maybe I'll post one of my STP mixes (other than the ancient live one and the Scott Weiland one) and we can compare some notes!

Big STP fan, eh? Another good call. Now you've asked for it ;) time for a little ranting and raving. Firstly, thanks for the compliments. Now here goes. Does anyone else get sick of all the crap STP gets and has gotten? What is the reason for this? They happen to be one of the best rock bands of all time (let's hear it for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nomination!) - seriously, the stuff legends are made of. They've had countless hits off ALL their albums. They've lasted since the 90s and remained relevant and fresh, which NONE of the other big bands of that era have. Fuck Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, even NIRVANA (ohhh gawd) - these bands are great, but STP takes the cake. And anyone who has never seen them live... whew. Ok, you can probably back me up on this one. To anyone who hasn't experienced STP live, please, for the love of everything holy, GO FUCKING SEE THEM when they come around you next. They came to South Beach for a free secret show a while back, and even after catching only about five songs.. geezus. For real, there have been so many people who have been so against seeing them, then have, and admit they're one of the best live shows you'll ever see. Who knows how they do it, maybe just the solid songwriting, energy and passion. Just GOOD fuckin catchy melodic music. Finally! Even if you HATE this band, pay the money and SEE them. Well worth it. Your opinion could change, for real. That's about it.. save for the fact that yes, 30 songs is a lot but this mix was HARD to cut down. We'll have to see, when the actual CD-R is made, which songs have to go and which stay.. tried to cut it down even more, but damn. Yeh.

all right, music hunter. you know your stuff, but i guess i have a different conception of STP, having liked them since i was 12 years old when they came out with Core. Tiny Music...was their last good album, in my opinion. No. 4 kind of sucked with a few exceptions, and Shangri-La never did it for me, either, though i will admit that it featured STP's greatest assets, namely scott weiland's amazing voice and their incredible riffs. that said, it's laudable that you fit this many traxx on the mix, but i would never have put traxx from No. 4 or Shangri-La on it. peace.

Ah! Wow that's interesting. Well, we thought all their albums pretty muched rocked it, they have lesser songs (read : Pretty Penny) and there are even tracks on Core that ain't too great.. Wet My Bed? ;) Take care, and thanks for the comment!
