Comment:
this is a mix of songs that i feel have a rather haunting effect. i noticed in a lot of these songs that (particularly the ryan adams and jeff buckley songs) there is a sigh in the vocal track and i think that makes them extra haunting. i kind of feel the need to explain myself with the bikini kill and le tigre because they aren't normally songs you would find on a haunting mix and i tend to use them on every mix i make (i'm not this one dimensional, i promise!). i put the bikini kill song on the mix because i always felt like if the song had gone on one second longer, kathleen hannah would burst into tears. you can feel she is right on the edge. i put the le tigre song on the mix because it is haunting as fuck when you hear it live and everyone in the crowd is counting to 41.the title comes from the leonard cohen song.
