Comment:
Just under 80 minutes from Tom Rapp & Co., whom I've just learned to appreciate recently (even after owning One Nation Underground on vinyl and the Constructive Melancholy comp years ago). Does anyone else prefer The Use of Ashes and Balaklava to the first album? Last song cut: "(Oh Dear) Miss Morse."Feedback:
PBS are sadly vastly under represented in my music library. This needs to be altered at some point soon.
Awesome ! Has this stuff been reissued on c.d. or are you lucky enough to have the vinyl ? I hear it's disastrously rare. I haven't heard much but have been tremendously intrigued since I found an ESP sampler on vinyl with one of their songs on it.
The first two (ESP) albums have been out on Get Back records (as imports) for the past few years (I have One Nation Underground CDR-ed and on vinyl, and own Balaklava on CD as of this weekend). Their remaining albums have all been recently released as a box set (which I am lucky enough to have obtained as dubbed CDs). They're pretty cool, for sure, but probably not worth the astronomical cost that it will take to collect all of their stuff. When we get around to trading, Cam, I can toss this in as a sampler, and rest assured, Tom, this will be in the mail to you with the Fugs box and Speaking Canaries in the not-so-distant future.
A great under appreciated band. I was lucky to catch them at a folk club in Philly in 1970. I have their first two albums on vinyl but sadly in bad condition from excessive play early on. I've been looking for their recently released compilation on cd. Nice work putting this mix together.
Excellent Rob.
