Comment:
I make no secret about it, I'm a big Pet Shop Boys fan. They're masterful songwriters who infuse their songs with both rhythm and infections melodies. In any case, I was only half-happy with their latest LP "Release". However, as time went on and I acquired the b-sides and unreleased songs from that record's sessions, I realized that there was a 100% sold album in there somewhere. The problem was just that the Boys didn't assemble it. I retained 6 of the original album's 10 songs, adding Sexy Northerner & Always from the 'Home And Dry' single, as well as Searching For The Face Of Jesus & Between Two Islands from the 'I Get Along' (ironically, a song I didn't think good enough to make it on my version of the LP) single. Rounding the 11 tunes out is the stomping Somebody Else's Business, recorded during the "Release" sessions and which finally saw the light of day on the recent "Disco 3" EP.
Feedback:
This is a fantastic PSB mix! I do love 'Release,' but it probably would have been an even better album if it was sequenced with the tracks you've compiled. Also, have you ever heard the track, "I Didn't Get Where I Am Today?" That was supposedly from the 'Release' sessions, but wound up as the B-side to 'Flamboyant.'
