it's amazing how many complete songs can fit on a 90 minute tape. this started out as a 'california'-theme, but somewhere along the line the plot got lost. ah well. this one is for a friend who has been stuck in germany for almost two years now, and is dying to get back to california - the poor bastard had to go without his wife for over half a year. this is just to help him cope with it all: some songs that I thought would remind him of home (although I have yet to visit california, so I really have no idea what I'm talking about), some other songs I know he'd like (german ones as well, ha!), and then some personal favourites of mine that have little to do with anything, but I thought they'd fit nice and simply couldn't resist. it just sucks being trapped in small town germany while your love is so far away. trust me on this one. oh, the title is from an allen ginsberg-snippet at the start of side b, courtesy to florian (for many other things as well).
