Comment:

I've been making CDs for a while now, but had the impulse last night to create a cassette tape instead... I don't know why, just to get back that feeling of putting a tape together. Sitting upstairs, surrounded by CDs, figuring the album out track-to-track. Plus, working on tape gave me the chance to experiment a little more than I do with CD. What resulted is a much moodier album than most of the CDs I do, especially since I wasn't trying to make this for anyone else. I was just trying to make a mix tape that I wanted to listen to. I don't know the last time I did that.

Very cool Patrick. So how is that new Lilys album? Yes, cassette tapes can present much more of a challenge than CDs, but I still like making them on occassion. Unfortunately I've found that there's not much demand for them anymore when it comes to trading.

yeah, tapes are fun to make (& listen to on the bus!) good stuff, patrick.

Actually, Ion, though I own the new Lilys album, I've yet to listen to it. I have a bad habit of buying albums and then not getting around to them for months. For instance, the Kingsbury Manx and Alfie tunes on this album are from their second albums, both of which I just listened to first the first time, even though those are two of my favorite bands. What can I say, it took me a long time to get tired of the first album and move on.

Thanks for the reply. I've heard it's pretty good. I share your same bad habit! I joined the BMG record club ( a big mistake by the way) about 2 years ago and have only listened to 3 of the 8 CDs they sent me for signing up.

Without wading in to the debate waters on the "cassette vs. cd" thing, it is a different medium. Period. I don't think the esthetics change from one to the other....anyway, nice mix Patrick. Always good to "do one for yourself" and see how that changes the substance of the endeavor.
