Comment:

for a new friend, made up of a lot of old standards that i've been revisiting lately and a whole lot of new favorites. i'd be lying if i said some of/a lot of this wasn't put to tape because i was thinking about someone, and i owe her a chunk of the good taste this tape is made of. i've been taking a lot of time with tapes lately because of some other things going on in my life, and i've been focusing on art (see the insert attached) and transitions from intros/outros. i've been using a record by the banjo barons, "55 classics!" to craft introduction pieces, and scratching the hell out of it (it cost me about $0.10, and i've got three copies of it,) to get that classic needle-on-a-record sound...the introduction on the second side is probably one of my favorite things ever, lately. also, i've been trying to make the ballsiest possible transitions. lifter puller after roberta after burning airlines? god, i'm an asshole. it sounds really good, though. i think.
