Comment:
"The Best of"?!?!? Hey, these guys only have 2 albums (not counting their new live album, which I haven't gotten my hands on yet) and one's out of print. That's OK. This is the best new band you haven't heard of. They play old-time music -- jug-band blues and Appalachian string-band -- with a 21st century energy and excitement, and enough rawness to keep the edge on. To paraphrase the writer of an article about them in Oxford American Magazine, they play old-timey music as if they invented it in their garage. They decided to form a band, did a "tour" across Canada where they wound up essentially busking their way across the country and back, moved to an old farmhouse in the North Carolina mountains (Doc Watson heard them while they played on the streets of Boone, N.C. and invited them to Merlefest), and then moved to Nashville (the Belly of the Beast) for more busking and eventually Opry gigs. Since then, they've opened for the likes of Ricky Skaggs, Del McCoury, Loretta Lynn, Robert Earl Keen, Junior Brown, Watson, and the Blind Boys of Alabama. Now they even have a website. "Success" hasn't spoiled them, however. They remain true to the music of the old, weird America. On the cover (l-r): Kevin "Wheatstraw" Hayes (guitjo, vocals & barks); Ketch Secor (vocals, fiddle, harmonica); Willie Watson (guitar, vocals); Morgan Jahnig (bull fiddle); Critter Fuqua (vocals, banjo, slide & harmonica).Check 'em out at a venue near you!

Hey! Why haven't I heard this yet!
I don't know much about them, but I'm willin' to learn!
I have never heard of these guys....but I love Old Crow Bourbon.
greaseball does indeed love that stuff....(he don't mind beer so much either.) FO finds a new one to attract the masses.
i'm getting back into art of the mix, searching around for bands i love. and you've done a great mix of one of my very favorites! i'm seeing them in just a week. i love them dearly.
I have alot of OCMS album, the live album, and eutaw. I see some some you got i don't have how to I get a copy.
Im 22 years old and this is the BEST band that I have ever heard!
this album is great but the live performances are even better
Old Crow Medicine Show are a kick ass old timey rock n roll band. I have seen them live 3 times and they're the best live band I have ever seen in my life. Catch them live as soon as humanly possible - they will blow your mind. How can anything this much fun be legal?
Your latest mix "Tell I to Me-Roots of Old Crow Medicine Show" is working. It made me search AotM for a mix containing OCMS, and then I came across this one. I'd love to trade for it.
I am a huge OCMS fan, but I can't find Eutaw anywhere. I have the live cd and would be willing to trade. If you already have it...if you wouldn't mind making me a copy, I would love it. I have lots to trade in exchange.
thanks
