Comment:

From far away, this could be misconstrued as the son of my first super-bubbly fun times mix from long ago, but I put a distinctly more...pensive twist on this one. A lot of the music's wistful, with melancholy undertones. It complements the forthcoming end of summer, I think. Fall is always a quieter, more reflective time, y'know? The idea I was going for was, after the mood-setting Flogging Molly song, to start the mix with happier tunes, then slowly segue into more subtly sorrowful, contemplative ones, using Dick Dale's showstopping instrumental as the turning point. It ends with The Specials because I always felt that song belonged at the very end of a movie. There's something conclusive and modestly hopeful about it. These feelings may not seem evident in some of the music (most of the post-Dick Dale bands are frothy pop-punk acts), but the emotions are there if you're looking for them. Plus, above it all, all 30 tracks here are simply magnificent songs unto themselves, and, put together, I think they represent an impressive variety of musical styles. Not to sound arrogant or anything. I'm just proud of my work here :)

What a great Mitch & Mickey track!! That was always my favourite... I was always so upset that got forgotten about in the rush to glorify all the other folkies. It's only now that they've started getting their due.
