Comment:

OK i made this double CD mix as an introduction to Stereolab for my girlfriend Fran. Now i know a lot of you are gonna be saying that a 2:30 hr+ mix is a little excessive, but i could have gone to the extreme of featuring non-album singles, featured influence and pre-formation/side bands (i.e. can, neu, faust and mccarthy, microdisney, turn-on, high llamas etc) and it would have balloned up to the length of some bands entire career output..
this has been a pretty lengthy (but lets face it, slack) approach. i'm gonna make an elaborate home-made sleeve for it with some documenting linear-notes, style-history of the band etc (since theres such a strong sense of change across albums). i purposely organised it chronologically (with the exception of the new issue abc sessions at the end of the 2nd disc) so that everything fits into the progressive state. All tracks are from the original albums and 'switched on!' compilations, with only the refried ectoplasm tracks mastered from vinyl (stereolab vinyl is non-existant in new zealand, i picked it up in san francisco). i know its a little skimpy on peng! and the first 'switched on', i was leaving the live tracks at the end to kinda blend into that vibe... yeah

I'm in Auckland, and Stereolab vinyl is not THAT scarce :). I've made three Stereolab comps for people, so good luck with this 'un!
