I was born in raised in FL before escaping 9 years ago. Tried my best to represent all areas of the state on this mix. :) **Sadly, there is no real band called "Evil Disney Minions," although I kinda wish there was. (I just improvised the "artist" credit)**"Everybody's Talkin" was selected for the Midnight Cowboy reference, and cos it screams "FL" to me. **Likewise, if "Trouble Down South" has some other meaning I'm unaware of (i.e. it's secretly about the civil war or animal rights or motorcycles or whatever), I'm sorry! When I hear the Mekons, I think of Florida.

"Evil Disney Minions" - that's TOO funny. Howsa bout "got the really hate my governor blues" by.... oh, I just made that up. sorry. Now about this here mix - I"m with Ken about Tallahassee Lassie; it rules. And Connie Francis ain't nearly as square as some would have you think. Good to see Nilsson too. Yep.

I was just watching that Connie Francis movie on TV the other night. I think the moral of the story was: when girls get raped, it's their own damn fault. But still. It made me want spring break. And this is a great concept for a mix.

Cool. One more suggestion: "Seminole Bingo" by Warren Zevon, written by him and Miami's own Carl Hiassen. Gotta throw in a song that name-drops the Tamiami Trail...
The Whiskeytown song is about Jacksonville, North Carolina. [A lot of their songs are about NC because that's where they're from. If I didn't know that I would've thought it was Florida. No big deal really though.] Lucky you for escaping. I'm still stuck here.
