Comment:
Well, having done tribute mixes for Neil Young, Big Star, the Velvet Underground, and the Beatles, I'm really scraping the bottom of the barrel here -- not a whole lot of standout Bowie covers in my collection, and I had to rely pretty heavily on Crash Course For The Ravers, an above-average indie rock Bowie tribute album. Still, if only for the Nirvana, Superchunk, Sea & Cake, and Magnetic Fields tracks, this is an ok place to stash a handful of interesting cover versions. Next up, the Kinks -- and then I think I've exhausted the single-artist tribute mixes.
Feedback:
great work. Lots of interesting versions which I've never heard.
You can take a bow(ie) for this one, Marc. Like Gerry, I haven't heard most of these. Fortunately you had the good sense not to include the Bay City Rollers' "Rebel Rebel" Looking forward to the Kinks tribute.
Very cool job! I was thinking of doing a Kinks tribute - maybe we can do an alternating dj thingie, if'n you like.
Quite nice, actually. Everybody seems to be doing Kinks tributes these days . . . ;)
Nice! Love Bowie. Not a fan of Quasi, but I understand if there's not a big selection of covers to choose from.
I fucking love that nirvana cover. abso-fucking-lutely haunting.
yet another great mix! christ, you're a prolific AotMer, aren't you?
Whoa... I had no idea that there was a formally released comp with that name (looks sheepishly at his own Bowie mix titles).
Rob -- Hmmm... did you say your specialty was IP? Might come in handy.
Ha! I only wish that were my specialty. I took a lot of those classes in law school, but have yet to use them much in practice. I actually do med mal/workers' comp defense. Hey, are you hiring out there? ;-)
